Leeds United confirmed the signing of Leicester's Chris Wood on their official website, after seeing off competition from Wolves.
Leeds pushed hardest, offering £3 million in total, handing Wood a four-year deal, able to convince the striker his future was at Elland Road despite the Wolves manager being Kenny Jackett, who had him on loan for a successful spell at Millwall in 2012.
Wolves were the strongest of the two sides last season, finishing strongly and only just missing out on the play-offs, finishing seventh on goal difference, while Leeds were 22 points further back in 15th place.
To that end Leeds were more in need of a striker like Chris Wood, with Wolves adding prolific Arsenal youngster Benik Afobe mid-season.
Wood may have considered the chance of getting more regular playing time at Leeds as a key factor in his decision, along with any extra financial stability Leeds were able to offer.
Wolves fans reacted with supposed indifference to Wood's snub, describing him as over-priced and not what they need.
Here is a look at comments from supporters via Twitter...
£3m for Chris Wood is daylight robbery. We only paid £2.5m for Benik Afobe! #wwfc— Sam Fleming (@Wolvensam) July 1, 2015
dodged a bullet regarding Chris wood didn't want him last season on loan definitely didn't want him on a permanent for 3 million #wwfc— Liam walker (@liamwalker2003) June 30, 2015
I can't understand why Chris Wood would choose Leeds over Wolves? Surely shows a lack of ambition! #wwfc— Phil Weatherill (@PhilWeatherill) June 30, 2015
So happy we didn't sign Chris Wood better options available #wwfc— Jack Perkins (@jackperkins1989) July 1, 2015
We paid £300k for Nouha Dicko, Leeds are prepared to pay 10 times that for Chris Wood, better players out there at that price #wwfc— Harry Carr (@Harry_Carr98) July 1, 2015
