After a season on loan with Villarreal, defender Victor Ruiz has completed a permanent move to El Madrigal.
The 26-year-old was a key figure with the Yellow Submarine during his loan spell, during the 2014-15 campaign in La Liga, making 25 appearances, along with 3 in the Copa del Rey and 8 in the Europa League.
Playing a total of 3,164 minutes last season, Villarreal highlighted Victor Ruiz as "one of the pillars of the defence" for the team, in the announcement via the official club website.
The Catalan player spent his formative years in the youth academies of Barcelona, Cornella and then Espanyol. After two seasons in their B team, he made his senior debut in La Liga during the 2009-10 season.
After one further season with Espanyol, Victor Ruiz caught the eye of Italian outfit Napoli, but his time in Serie A was difficult and he made just seven appearances, before returning to Spain with Valencia.
Although he was initially an important figure in the Valencia defence, playing opportunities gradually reduced, which inevitably led to the defender moving to Villarreal on loan last season. His quality performances clearly did enough to encourage a permanent deal.
Villarreal have been one of the most active La Liga sides thus far in the transfer market this summer, with Victor Ruiz already the fourth confirmed signing, following those of Samuel Garcia and Samu Castillejo, along with the loan of Leo Baptistao from Atletico Madrid.
