As per a report in the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Stoke City have been heavily linked with a move for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konopyanka.
The Ukraine international is arguably the most desirable transfer of the summer, available on a free after running down his contract with the recent Europa League finalists.
He scores goals, beats players for fun and works tirelessly in his defensive duties – traits which could see him become a fan favourite at one of the Premier League’s interested parties.
However, competition for his signature is high and fresh reports from the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim a move to Atletico Madrid is very much on the cards.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino needs to add ball-carriers to his attacking options, a key attribute which ultimately eludes the current trio of Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen.
Konoplyanka would be an ideal addition in that regard. However, a section of responses from Tottenham supporters to this story on HITC Sport suggest there are mixed feelings regarding the 25-year-old.
Woodpekka said: “He seems like trouble! The last thing any side needs in their changing room.”
Seth Armstrong said: “Another mercenary, name any successful UKR/RUS imports?”
Acton Spurs said: “I would have gone for Yarmolenko, potentially more expensive but much better player.”
Jay said: “He is perfect for Tottenham. Sign him he is class. How can any person who knows about football say no to konoplyanka on a free?”
Mr Greaves said: “I just don't see him as a player to fit Pochettino's system and fee loss or fee. If we were still managed by Harry, he would do well with us and be a different story.”
Klarky said: “There are plenty of good wingers out there younger than him, he is at his best now and won't get better.”
