Top Five: Best strikers of the 2000s - featuring Arsenal, Chelsea legends

Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid strikers feature.

Today is Ruud van Nistelrooy’s birthday, turning 38.

The former striker, who retired in 2012, is most well known for his time with Manchester United, where he 150 goals in 219 games established him as one of the best strikers in world football.

He also enjoyed spells with PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid before and after his time in England, and he is held in high regard at Old Trafford for the impact he had in the Premier League.

Although his five years with United did not bring much silverware - due to strong Arsenal and Chelsea teams - he still left in 2006 with a Premier League title to his name, as well as an FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.

Van Nisterlrooy is rightly considered one of the best strikers in the 2000’s, and we take a look at five other players who could hold this title.
