Supermarket giants get involved in post-Nathaniel Clyne to Liverpool debate.
After Liverpool confirmed the signing of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton for £12.5m, as reported on the club's official website, Liverpool fans were overjoyed to have a right-back who might actually be able to defend and won't get caught out of position all the time (we're looking at you Glen Johnson!).
However, the superb Twitter parody account 'Deluded Brendan' was quick to engage in some more 'banter' at Liverpool's expense by getting in touch with Tesco regarding his recent purchase. Last week he enquired as to whether Tesco had any great deals on this summer, which brought a superb response from the supermarket's social media guy.
@DeludedBrendan Hmm, I'm not sure mate. Would you like me to check our stores in Southampton? - Mike— Tesco (@Tesco) June 16, 2015
Well, Brendan clearly took his advice on board as he quickly snapped up the England international, who had also been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer - as per the Daily Star.
After his latest purchase, Deluded Brendan was quick to thank Tesco for his sound advice in another top-notch Twitter exchange which saw the supermarket's social media guy issuing another piece of vital advice – something which Louis van Gaal should have maybe taken note of.
.@Tesco Hi Mike, Ive just taken delivery of Nathaniel Clyne from your Southampton store. Thanks again for your assistance.— Deluded Brendan (@DeludedBrendan) July 1, 2015
@DeludedBrendan Great news, Brendan. Please bear in mind our 28-day return policy, in case he does a 'Luke Shaw' over summer - Mike— Tesco (@Tesco) July 1, 2015
We're going to guess that more managers will start asking for advice from supermarkets, rumour has it that Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is ready to speak to Aldi has he looks to get a right good bargain on a new striker...
