The Cameroonian international has returned to Ligue 1 after nine years.
Cameroon international Benoit Assoe-Ekotto has signed for Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne, five months after he was released from his contract at Tottenham.
The fullback's departure from the club earlier this year left Younes Kaboul as the soul remaining player from the Champions League side of 2010-11, and the Frenchman looks set to leave White Hart Lane too this summer.

Assou-Ekotto's career at Spurs was one that sometimes split Spurs fans, with many feeling that his confidence on the ball created unnecessary defensive situations on more than one occasion.
But there could be no denying that the 31-year-old's tenure in the team during Harry Redknapp's stint at manager came in what was a strong spell in the club's recent history.
The former Lens player spent eight and a half years in North London, and though his last couple of seasons at Tottenham saw him out of the first team picture, Assou-Ekotto did make an impressive 200 appearances for the club, including 5 goals.
Below are some comments from Spurs fans on his signing for Les Verts, with most having good wishes for their former player:
