Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Atletico Madrid's Mario Suarez, report GianlucadiMarzio.com.
The Italian transfer expert reports that Spurs are rivalling Inter Milan's interest in the central midfielder.
Suarez has three international caps for Spain, with the 28-year-old winning the most recent of these in March.
The midfielder has made 183 appearances for Atletico Madrid across various spells, beginning his career in their academy and re-signing after playing for Real Mallorca, also on loan at Celta Vigo - and was a part of Atletico's La Liga winning side in 2013/14.
Di Marzio reports that Tottenham have made enquiries over Suarez over the past 24 hours, and are expected to return to act on their interest.
Is he available?
Suarez has a contract at Atletico until 2017, and is valued by transfermarkt at £8.8 million.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter have been pushing for Suarez hard over the past 24 hours after missing out on Giannelli Imbula to Porto, having believed were close to a deal.
Atletico have been shown to be open to cashing in at the right price on their players in recent seasons, only this summer selling Mario Mandzukic to Juventus.
He only made 20 La Liga appearances last season, playing 35 times in all competitions, and if Spurs are serious about him then it could be a wise way to re-invest the Paulinho money.
