Report: Newcastle have yet to receive offers for Tim Krul or Moussa Sissoko

The Newcastle duo have been linked to the likes of Crystal Palace and Liverpool in recent weeks.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle have yet to receive formal approaches for either Tim Krul or Moussa Sissoko, as the Magpies return to pre-season training after the summer break.

The duo - two of the better performing players in the Newcastle ranks - have been linked with moves away from St James’ Park for a number of weeks.

Sissoko is reportedly a transfer target for Liverpool, as per TMW, whilst Krul is interesting former boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace, according to the Mirror.

Considering the importance of the pair, losing either of them would be a major blow to the Magpies, and Steve McClaren should be looking to build his team around them.

At their best, Sissoko and Krul are arguably two of the better players in the Premier League, and they form the spine of Newcastle’s team. Considering the poor campaign the club had last term, it would be no surprise if they were looking for a move away this summer, but the report confrms no approaches have yet been made for them.

This is a boost to Newcastle, who need to keep ahold of Krul and Sissoko ahead of next season. The Tyneside outfit need to get out of the rut they have been struggling in, and McClaren will be on the path to improvement by getting the duo back to top form at the spine of his team.
