As per the Spanish paper Diario Sport, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement over the transfer of Turkey international midfield Arda Turn.
The technical midfielder has long been linked with an exit from the Vicente Calderon, his agent Ahmet Bulut issuing a come-and-get-me plea in Mundo Deportivo in the early months of last season’s campaign.
Previously linked by the Daily Mail with a move to Liverpool in 2010, Turan opened up on the possibility of moving to the Reds by admitting he is a supporter of the club and labelling a potential Anfield switch a dream.
However, a move to Merseyside has long been off the cards due to their differing circumstances and fresh reports claim an agreement to move to La Liga champions Barcelona instead has been reached.
“Arda Turan will become Barcelona’s second signing of the 2015/16 campaign. The Catalans have an agreement with Atletico Madrid and the player to bring him in this summer,” Diario Sport state.
Where will Arda Turan fit in at the Nou Camp?
The 28-year-old has technical ability in abundance, though his role under Atleti boss Diego Simeone has seen him trade his flamboyant side for a more hardworking, defensively drilled part.
At Barcelona, the former Galatasaray man would slot in the midfield well and provide competition to the likes of Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic following Xavi’s departure.
Turan would bring a wealth of experience to the Catalans, having won La Liga, the Copa Del Rey, the Europa League, the European Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup in Madrid.
