Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Gueye, along with West Ham, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Southampton.
A 25-year-old Senegalese international, Gueye is sure to leave Lille this summer considering the interest surrounding him, with Villa the latest Premier League side to plan a transfer.
TMW has reported that Newcastle want to sign him, the Daily Mail claimed that West Ham and Crystal Palace have submitted offers for him, and Southampton have also been making a move for Gueye, according to France Football.
The report claims that Villa have submitted a £9 million offer for Gueye, but are waiting to see if the midfielder chooses a move to Marseille as they have already had a bid accepted by Lille.
He has been a regular for Lille in recent years, and has impressed in Ligue 1. A move away from LOSC looks incredibly likely this summer, and it will be up to Gueye to decide between Marseille or any one of the interested Premier League teams when deciding where he wants to play next season.
Would Gueye be a good signing for Villa?
Villa are well stocked in the midfield department, but they lack a player of the style of Gueye, who is a real box-to-box presence, rather than a holding player. He adds a goal threat, as well as a strong defensive presence, and would be a great player to work alongside Fabian Delph in the midfield.
Gueye would add presence to a midfield lacking in physical aptitude, and would allow the more technical players alongside him freedom to play to their best abilities.
