According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, Aston Villa are preparing a bid to sign FC Copenhagen left back Ludwig Augustinsson.
Villa have made one summer signing so far, bringing defender Micah Richards to the club on a free transfer after his Manchester City contract expired.
Now, manager Tim Sherwood will be looking to bring in other new signings to strengthen his squad, with full backs needed on both sides of his defence.
It's therefore little surprise to see that Sherwood is being linked with a move for Swedish star Augustinsson, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.
They report that, after Augustinsson starred at the Under-21 European Championships as Sweden won the title, Sherwood and Villa are preparing a bid to lure him away from FC Copenhagen.
The 21-year-old only joined the Danish giants from Goteborg in January, but his impressive displays at the Under-21 European Championships have now triggered interest from not only Villa, but also Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
What are Augustinsson's qualities?
The left back impressed for the Sweden Under-21's, showing a great ability to get forward relentlessly for the full 90 minutes, providing a real threat down the left hand side.
Defensively, Augustinsson also impressed as a solid defender, but it's going forward where Augustinsson will earn plaudits.
If it comes down to Aston Villa v Liverpool for Augustinsson's signature, he could be tempted to choose Villa due to an increased chance of first-team football, given that Liverpool already have Alberto Moreno at left back and are currently seeking cover for the Spaniard.
