A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

So the summer transfer window has finally opened, but while some clubs have quickly set about completing deals it has been a quiet day – so far at least – for Manchester United.

That is unlikely to be the case for too long, with United manager Louis van Gaal all too aware that he needs to considerably strengthen certain areas of his squad before the next campaign kicks off, so what has the rumour mill got for the club’s supporters this evening?

The Manchester Evening News reports that United are unlikely to be successful in any move for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.

The German international is known to be a firm favourite of van Gaal but speaking to Sport Bild he said he felt good at the Allianz Arena and had a contract for another four years.

“When you get an offer you consider it automatically,” Muller said. “A request by a big club is an honour and appreciation that your output was good. I feel fine at Bayern and my contract runs until 2019.”

So it seems that is another world-class star who will not be heading to Old Trafford any time soon, and another player could soon be leaving the club.

ESPN claims they have been told by sources that United winger Nani has agreed terms with Turkish side Fenerbahce ahead of a move.

The report goes on to claim that United are holding out for £4.25million, which would still be a bargain given the player’s innate – if somewhat erratic – talent.
