The Queens Park Rangers forward has been the subject of intense speculation this summer.
The destination of Charlie Austin after his seemingly inevitable QPR departure is up in the air and former team-mate Billy Paynter has revealed the player himself is still undecided, as per the Shields Gazette.
He said: “I am texting him to see where he is moving to, or if he is moving, but he isn’t giving anything anyway!
“There are a few teams that have been sniffing around, and I’m sure QPR will want to try and keep him... But he doesn’t know where he is going yet."
Now plying his trade at Hartlepool United, Paynter enjoyed a deadly strike partnership with Austin during their time at Swindon Town.
Austin had just been picked up from non-League Poole Town at 19 years of age and would begin on his remarkable journey to the Premier League and international football.
He managed 31 goals in his 54 appearances at the County Ground before moving to Burnley, and then on to QPR in 2013.
It’s a transfer saga which looks likely to extend well into the summer and the protracted nature of it is an unsurprising turn of events.
Prolific Premier League goalscorers are hard to come by, especially for Austin’s mooted £10-15 million valuation (per the Express), and whichever club manages to secure a deal are almost certain to have nabbed the bargain of the summer.
