Surely not, but could Tottenham be set for a huge embarrassment over Paulinho?

Paulinho is yet to take a medical at his 'new club'.

Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy must be rubbing their collective hands with glee at fetching £9.9 million for Paulinho.

But they should not spend it or bank it away just yet.

Guangzhao Evergrande announced the deal to sign the Brazilian international on Monday on their official website, and Tottenham have since claimed the deal is complete, via their own website.

There is still a key factor in the deal which could go wrong.

As part of Guangzhao Evergrande's announcement, they declared Paulinho has not yet undergone a medical.

Guangzhao's website reports he is due to take this on Thursday July 2, and there may be a few nervous faces in both China and England until he completes it.

It states: "Paulinho was formally signed, the transfer fee of 14 million euros, signed for four years. The player in this half of the season will be wearing jersey No. 48, after the medical clearance on July 2."

Normally a matter of routine, there have been a few instances of surprise failings over the years - with Liverpool pulling out of an agreed deal to sign Loic Remy last summer over a medical issue, as reported The Mirror at the time.

Paulinho has not struggled particularly with injuries since signing for Spurs, and it should be a straightforward, but the same was expected with Remy's.

Usually considered such a matter of course, that with announcement already made there may not even be a big confirmation he has passed, but should he fail, there could be a few frantic discussions at both ends.

It would be disastrous on a personal level for Paulinho for his deal to fall through unexpectedly, and embarrassing for all concerned - so fingers crossed...
