The Danish defender is a transfer target for Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old defender, who can play at both centre-back and left-back, endured a strange 2014/15 campaign. He only played roughly half the games possible - totalling 30 in all competitions - yet captained the side frequently when taking to the field.
Injuries disrupted his season, and it has long been believed that his career in Amsterdam is over, with the report claiming he is actively looking for a move away this summer.
This has piqued the interest of Villa, who are keen on bringing him to England as they look to strengthen their defensive unit ahead of next season. It looks as if Ron Vlaar is set to leave Villa Park - with no new contract agreed - and Boilesen is able to play in the central defensive roles with the same ability as he can play full-back.
There are no indications in the report as to how much Ajax want before they entertain selling Boilesen, but as he wants a move away from the club, it is likely the Eredivisie outfit will sanction a lower value deal.
Would Boilesen be a good signing for Villa?
Despite his young age, Boilesen has long been considered one of the best defenders in the Eredivisie, and although he only featured intermittently last season, he was a strong performer whenever he played.
Usually featuring at left-back, he completed on average 2.1 tackles, 2.1 interceptions and 3.4 clearances per game, regularly totalling the highest number of defensive actions in the division. He also possesses a keen attacking threat, with an impressive dribbling and key pass ratio which would lend itself well to the attacking set-up Tim Sherwood has created at Villa Park.
