HITC Sport understands Reading are have agreed a deal to sign former Hull City midfielder Stephen Quinn on a free transfer.
Quinn is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Hull and turning down a new deal to extend his stay at the KC Stadium.
A number of clubs are thought to have shown an interest in Quinn, but Reading have moved quickly to secure the former Sheffield United man.
Hull are thought to have offered Quinn a new two-year deal, but Reading have bettered the offer by giving the player a three-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.
Reading boss Steve Clarke is thought to be a big admirer of Quinn and he believes his experience and versatility will add to his squad ahead of the new Championship season.
Quinn could help replace Jem Karacan at Reading with the midfielder strongly linked with a move to Galatasaray.
Quinn will become Reading's second new signing of the week following the arrival of Portuguese striker Orlando Sa from Legia Warsaw.
