Former Leeds United midfielder Fabian Delph has been linked with a move from Aston Villa to Premier League giants Manchester City.

Ray Wilkins has told The Mirror that Aston Villa want Fabian Delph to remain at the club.

According to the British newspaper, Premier League giants Manchester City are interested in signing the former Leeds United midfielder.

“Fabian is top drawer as far as Aston Villa is concerned,” Villa assistant manager Wilkins told The Mirror.

“I sincerely hope all the teams out there who really want to take him on board don’t come after him because it would be really nice to keep hold of him.”

Should Fabian Delph join Manchester City?

Moving from Villa to City is certainly going to be a huge step-up in the career of Delph, who is one of the best players in the current Villans' squad.

The England international came into some good form in the final months of the 2014-15 campaign after former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood took over.

The problem with moving to City is that Delph will not be guaranteed a place in the starting line-up.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has a number of world-class midfielders in his team, and Delph is going to face some serious competition at the Etihad Stadium.

However, at 25, it is time for the former Leeds star to further his career and join a club where he will get more recognition and have the chance to win silverware.
