A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Aston Villa today...

Christian Benteke was again at the centre of Aston Villa news today with the Daily Mail reporting the club will not budge on the £32.5 million asking price.

The striker's former club Genk are due 15% of any profit above £7 million the Villians potentially make on him which has caused the club's hierarchy to dig their heels in over the fee.

A twist in the Benteke tale also emerged today with the Belgian reportedly unwilling to move to Spurs should a fee be agreed.

The London Evening Standard claim that Benteke still holds ill will over the way Spurs handled negotiations when they chased his signature two years ago, and a move to Liverpool is his first choice.

It was bad news on the incoming front for Villa as their £1.3 million bid for want away Ajax captain Nicolai Boilesen was rejected, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Dutch club are believed to want £2.3 million for his sale but it is unclear whether Villa will be willing to increase their offer.

It was the player’s turn to reject a move in the case of 18-year old Tom Lang, as per the Scottish Sun.

The young defender is a free agent having left Birmingham City this summer and has reportedly opted for a return to his native Scotland with Rangers amidst interest from Villa.

Finally, new assistant manager Ray Wilkins was full of praise for Tim Sherwood after the capture of Micah Richards on a free transfer earlier this month, as per the Birmingham Mail, stating:

"I think the business that Tim did there was phenomenal."
