The Argentine defender has been speaking about his Manchester United teammate.
Both players moved to Old Trafford last summer, but it was Rojo who had the more impressive debut campaign, his no-nonsense defending quickly making him a fan favourite while Di Maria faltered after a fine start.
Di Maria signed for United from Real Madrid for a club-record £59.7million and he quickly set about justifying his price-tag, scoring three goals and providing six assists in his first 10 Premier League matches.
But that was as good as it got, with Di Maria briefly injured soon after and failing to score another league goal all season.
He did finish the campaign with four goals and 11 assists in all competitions but United would have expected far more for their money, and they certainly would not have expected him to be benched for the last few months of the campaign.
Still, he now has a year in England behind him and he knows what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, so the new season could be very different and Rojo for one thinks United have a gem in Di Maria.
“For me, the player with the most talent at Manchester United is Angel,” Rojo told Goal.com. “Any player coming to a new country and a new league has to adapt to the differences and that’s what happens. But I’m sure he will do really well in the months ahead.”
With Memphis Depay now a United player it will be interesting to see how manager Louis van Gaal fits everyone in. But if Di Maria gets back to the player we all know he can be there is no way the Dutchman could continue to leave him out.
