A player linked with a £2million move to Liverpool this summer has spoken about the rumours.

Reported Liverpool target Ludwig Augustinsson has been speaking to Fotbollskanalen about the rumours surrounding his future.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Liverpool are targeting the young left-back as they seek cover for Alberto Moreno, and it is said the player will cost in the region of £2million.

Augustinsson is currently in action at the U21 European Championship where his Sweden side have reached the final against Portugal.

There he could come up against Liverpool’s Tiago Illori, if the defender overcomes an injury, and if the Reds’ interest is concrete they may go on to become teammates.

But for now Augustinsson is clearly not getting ahead of himself, telling Fotbollskanalen, “It’s great that there are rumours of such a big club. As my agent said, he has heard about them, but anything more I don’t know.

“It’s really cool but I’m focusing on now.”

With the final of the prestigious tournament taking place this evening (Tuesday) Augustinsson could soon be a European champion as well as a sought-after left-back, and for just £2million Liverpool may be wise to make their move before someone else does.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers will know the importance of strength in depth and left-back is an area of the squad where he could do with more numbers.
