The Gunners' former Swedish star is a big fan of two Copa America stars.
Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg has been discussing reports linking the Gunners to Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal in an interview with publication Sport 360, and he has said that he is a big fan of the player.
Arsene Wenger's side already have another Chilean star in their line up in Alexis Sanchez, and the Swede talked up the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder and what he would bring to the Emirates alongside his compatriot, despite conflicting reports on the possibility the 28-year-old could make it to London.
“There were some rumours about Vidal," Ljungberg told Sport 360 when discussing potential improvements to the squad. "A great player, and he gets fuming if he loses the ball, so I like that. That kind of player would be great for the club.
“Look at Sanchez. After the World Cup in South Africa I said I wanted us to buy him, when he was at Udinese.
“He is quality but he also works hard as well. He has speed. When he loses the ball he still fights for it and that’s what I like to see.”
The 38-year-old obviously likes players that have drive, tenacity and an outstanding work ethic, so it's no surprise he would want reports linking Vidal to the club to come off.
What is the rumour mill saying about the Juventus star?
Unfortunately for those hoping Vidal would swiftly follow Petr Cech through the door, there are confusing messages at best regarding the possibility of a move.
The Independent ran with a story that Spanish radio station Cadena Cope were 90% convinced a deal would happen, though that idea in itself has been shot down by several sources, including one who verified with ESPN that reports of a Vidal transfer were 'wide of the mark'.
With transfers difficult enough to predict at the best of times, clearly, with there plenty more days remaining of the transfer window, Ljungberg is going to have to sit out and wait to see what truth might be in the story, just like the rest of the supporters.
