Liverpool transfer round-up: Christian Benteke would prefer summer move to Anfield

All the latest summer transfer news from Anfield...

According to the London Evening Standard, Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke would prefer a move to Liverpool over anywhere else this summer.

The Belgian striker, 24, ended the season with 11 goals in nine games under Tim Sherwood, but his future his now up in the air as a result.

Sherwood recently told Sky Sports that there is a £32.5m release clause in Benteke's contract, meaning Villa could lose their star striker this summer.

However, the London Evening Standard report that Benteke would reject a move to Tottenham - because he wants to join Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has already snapped up Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino to boost his frontline, but snapping up a centre forward like Benteke could cap off Liverpool's summer spending.

Elsewhere, FC Copenhagen left back Ludwig Augustinsson has discussed speculation surrounding a move to Liverpool during an interview with Fotbollskanalen.

The Daily Mail recently suggested that Liverpool are eyeing the Swedish Under-21 defender as a potential summer addition, and Augustinsson says that it's 'cool' to be linked with a move to Anfield.

"It’s great that there are rumours of such a big club. As my agent said, he has heard about them, but anything more I don’t know," said Augustinsson. "It’s really cool but I’m focusing on now," he added.
