Juan Mata wants Premier League trophy at Manchester United

The Spaniard is keen to add to his trophy collection and believes he can do it at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata says he is desperate to win the Premier League with Manchester United in comments via the Manchester Evening News.

The Spaniard joined Chelsea from Valencia in 2011 and enjoyed success with the Londoners, but never managed to win the Premier League while there.

He joined United when David Moyes was in charge, and was a part of the subsequent slip down the table under the Scot. Things have picked up under his replacement Louis van Gaal though, and Mata is targeting the Premier League title in the future.

“What I want is to win the Premier League,” the MEN reports.

“I was lucky enough to win so many trophies (at Chelsea) but I didn’t win the Premier League and it’s something that I have in my mind. I want to win it and I want to play good football with Manchester United, to show that we are still there and fighting for every title.”

Improvements needed for a title challenge

Whether Manchester United can win the title in the coming seasons however, is likely to be dependent on their future transfers.

It has been largely accepted that the side need a major overhaul if they are to make up the difference on current champions Chelsea, with improvements needed in several areas.

Defence is certainly the area that needs most improvement, and the potential signing of Sergio Ramos would certainly go a long way towards making United title challengers once again.
