HITC Sport understands Andrea Orlandi has agreed a mutual termination of his contract at Blackpool.
HITC Sport understands Andrea Orlandi is a free agent after agreeing a mutual termination of his contract at Blackpool.
Blackpool had hoped to keep the Spaniard at Bloomfield Road but the 30-year-old has opted to trigger an appearance clause allowing him to leave after completing 23 games.
Blackpool had hoped to take up the option of a one-year extension and had challenged the validity of the release clause.
However, after Orlandi instructed lawyers to go to arbitration to resolve his contract wrangle the club backed down at the final minute and agreed to let the Spaniard move on.
The news has alerted a number of Championship sides and clubs in Orlandi's native Spain to the midfielder's availability.
The former Barcelona youngster finished as Blackpool's second highest goalscorer in the Championship last season with four goals
Orlandi is happy to have resolved the issue and is now considering his option where to continue his career.
"I am happy that everything has now been resolved and that I can leave Blackpool for free," Orlandi told HITC Sport.
"There was a release clause allowing me to move on and I activated that clause.
"I wish I could have played in more games and tried to help Blackpool last season, but now it is time to move on and I will discuss all the options open to me with my agent to see where I will go next."
