West Ham United have tonight confirmed on their official website that left back Aaron Cresswell has signed a new contract with the club.
Cresswell, 25, joined West Ham from Ipswich Town last summer, and went far beyond expectations, turning in a remarkable debut season in the Premier League.
Despite having four years still left on his contract at Upton Park, Cresswell has been handed improved terms on a brand new five-year contract to keep him in East London until 2020 - and the Hammers even have the option of adding a further two years to that deal, which would take Cresswell into his mid-30's.
The deal is yet another huge move from West Ham this summer, who have not only appointed new manager Slaven Bilic, but have also brought in a raft of new signings in Darren Randolph, Pedro Obiang and Dimitri Payet.
Cresswell's extension comes as West Ham get ready to embark on their final season at Upton Park before moving to the Olympic Stadium, giving fans cause for optimism.
Supporters took to Twitter upon hearing the news over Cresswell's new deal, suggesting that he is actually England's best left back - despite having not earned a call-up yet.
Fans also urged West Ham to extend other contracts alongside Cresswell, with an almost unanimous view that the latest contract renewal was fantastic news.
Here are some of the reactions from West Ham fans as Cresswell decided to stay at West Ham for the foreseeable future...
Great that Cresswell has signed extension with the big boys sniffing. As with everything this summer, a good statement of intent #whufc— Joe Downes (@jredownes) June 29, 2015
I think a lot of these contract renewals and 'big' signings are as a result of our imminent move to the Olympic Stadium #whufc— WHUview (@WHUview) June 29, 2015
