The talented midfielder appears committed to the prospect of being at White Hart Lane for the new campaign.
Tottenham have been conducting Q & A interviews with several of their first team players this summer, and the latest with Nabil Bentaleb on the club's website is one that would have been particularly anticipated considering the rumoured contract situation surrounding the 20-year-old.
When asked to name his own hopes for the new campaign, Bentaleb answered: "To push on from last season. If we could win a trophy and qualify for the Champions League, that would be a big achievement."
"We know what it would mean to the fans and the Club."
Spurs came pretty close on both accounts to those targets in the campaign just gone, with the North Londoners runners up in the League Cup and finishing in 5th position in the Premier League.
Spurs have to make sure Bentaleb has a 'next season' at the club
The Algerian international has always been a committed player both in terms of how he plays and how he talks about Spurs.
However, there have been reports this summer that the player and his agent are eager to sign an improved contract at White Hart Lane, something the club and Bentaleb's party have been unable to agree on, and that has left the midfielder frustrated according to the Mirror.
This in turn has led to rumours of interest from other clubs, and it is understandable as there are few other players of his age that have had such important roles in a club fighting at the top of one of Europe's strongest leagues.
But supporters will be happy to hear their player sound so determined to bring success to the club. His emphasis on using the pronoun 'we' is certainly encouraging, and not the choice of language usually ascribed to a player who is thinking of leaving a club.
With Spurs selling the likes of Paulinho this summer, Mauricio Pochettino has to surely be imploring Daniel Levy to sign up Bentaleb on the contract he deserves, because it would be a big mistake to let him go.
