Tottenham evening media round-up: Paulinho departure confirmed, £18m for winger

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.

Midfielder Paulinho has left Tottenham to move to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, with Sky Sports - as well as other sources - reporting a fee of £9.8 million.

The Brazilian who signed for £17 million in the summer of 2013 will reportedly sign a four-year contract and will link up with his new club on Thursday with the deal expected to go through officially later this week.

Another player who joined during the same transfer window as Paulinho who looks to be on the way out is Etienne Capoue - with the London Evening Standard reporting talks with Premier League new boys Watford.

Watford are reportedly looking for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, as Spurs are looking to recoup as much of the £9 million they spent on the midfielder two years ago as possible.

Former Tottenham left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto is set for a move to Saint-Etienne according to TalkSPORT, who cite reports in France, including one from L'Equipe.

The Cameroonian was released by Spurs in February and has reportedly impressed officials at the Ligue 1 club during a trial period.

As for incomings, TalkSPORT link Monaco winger Yannick Ferreira with a move to Tottenham, saying there has already been one £10 million bid rejected.

But the report says there is an £18 million price tag on the Belgian, and that the player would only want a move to England should he leave the club.
