Derby County defender Stephen Warnock has revealed his thoughts about pre-season training on

The Rams squad will start pre-season training later today, and the former Leeds United left-back has been explaining how he plans to deal with it.

“Pre season is mostly about winning the battle against yourself, I know I can run but often players worry about it far to much,” former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender Warnock wrote on

“I've never not completed a pre season due to it being to difficult. Here's to digging in again for another pre seaso starting on Monday and a bright season ahead!”

In another post on, Warnock stated his determination to impress new Derby head coach Paul Clement.

“With a new manager being installed I'm sure all the lads will want to make a good 1st impression on Monday and I'll be no different and will be looking for a successful season both personally and as a team,” wrote on the former Blackburn Rovers man.

Warnock moved to Derby from Championship rivals Leeds United in the January transfer window.

The Englishman made 21 appearances in the Championship for Leeds during the 2014-15 campaign, scoring one goal and creating 24 chances in the process.

The left-back had a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won 39 headers, three dribbles and 51 tackles.

Warnock struggled to play regularly for Derby last season, largely due to injuries. In seven Championship matches for the Rams, he created four chances, had a pass accuracy of 76%, and won 22 headers, two dribbles and six tackles.

Derby narrowly failed to finish in the top six of the Championship last season, and they will once again be aiming for automatic promotion to the Premier League under Clement.
