Whether you were a supporter of his and kept wondering why things were going wrong or simply one of many, many critics of Paulinho's, the torture is no more. He is gone.
And Spurs fans are absolutely delighted for the most part - as shown by the Twitter reaction to the Brazilian's move.
A couple of common misconceptions to deal with, though... Many have criticised the 26-year-old for moving to China as it's an 'end-of-career' place to be. You can't have it both ways, however, can you? If you've slated Paulinho for not being good enough, maybe he's listened and decided to take a good pay day in a league with a lower standard.
If anyone was offered a strong wage for a more relaxed job, they'd take it a lot of the time, wouldn't they?
Secondly, many have expressed their shock at Guangzhou paying big money for the Tottenham midfielder. Well, why? It's not so much Daniel Levy's genius, even, it's the fact Luiz Felipe Scolari is in charge of the Chinese side and bringing in one of his favourites. It's not like he hasn't been linked with big-money moves for Brazilians before, is it....?
Here's just how delighted Spurs fans were on social media, anyway!
Delighted, £10Mil for Paulinho is fantastic business from Mr Levy. Had all the attributes, just didn't work out for him! #THFC— Gary Scott (@gscott92) June 29, 2015
