Report: Tottenham to include Emmanuel Adebayor in Christian Benteke deal

Emmanuel Adebayor

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Tottenham Hotspur will include Emmanuel Adebayor in their bid to sign Christian Benteke from Aston Villa this summer, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that Spurs do not want to pay Benteke’s £32.5 million buyout clause and will use fellow striker Adebayor as part of the deal.

Liverpool are also interested in signing Benteke, according to The Mirror, but Tottenham hope that Villa manager Tim Sherwood’s good relationship with Adebayor will see them secure the services of the Belgium international.

Sherwood was key to the 31-year-old Togo international finding his form during the second half of the 2013-14 season.

Should Aston Villa take the deal?

Benteke is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, while Adebayor has been struggling for the best part of two years.

However, if Villa get a good transfer fee and the former Arsenal striker in return for Benteke, then they should take it.

£32.5m is a lot of money, and not many clubs will be willing to pay that. If Spurs are ready to pay part of that buyout clause and include Adebayor, then it would be a good business for the Villans.
