Victor Moses appears to be attracting interest from Tottenham according to the report, so Stoke may need to find a new winger.
The interest has come about because of suggestions that Tottenham are keen on landing Victor Moses from Chelsea - who was on loan at the Britannia Stadium last season.
It seems as though manager Mark Hughes has been keen on making the move for Moses a permanent one, with suggestions they would try and secure Moses as part of any deal that took goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to Chelsea - with rumours the Blues are keen to sign the Bosnian as cover for Thibaut Courtois.
The report also suggests that the Stoke boss will meet with Begovic to discuss his future, and with midfielder Steven N'Zonzi who seems to be on his way out of the Britannia Stadium. Both players have just the one year left on their contracts.
When it comes to Moses, he impressed during his time with the Potters last season, but one major concern is the number of injuries he had that disrupted his game time - and he missed around a third of the Premier League season as a result.
Downing has plenty of Premier League experience but is a different kind of player to Moses. Downing comes across as the more technical of the two while Moses appears to carry a lot more pace and power.
There is definitely a desire from Stoke, it seems, to sign a winger on a permanent deal before the start of the season but they may have their work cut out when it comes to landing either Moses or Downing.
