Report: Everton want Sam Byram if Seamus Coleman leaves for Manchester United

Everton are reportedly eyeing Leeds United’s Sam Byram if Seamus Coleman leaves for Manchester United.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is interested in signing Sam Byram from Leeds United this summer, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Toffees boss is looking at the 21-year-old defender as a potential replacement for Seamus Coleman.

The Republic of Ireland international right-back is a target of Manchester United, according to The Sun, and Martinez has “sounded out” Byram as the 26-year-old’s replacement if he leaves for Old Trafford this summer.

Good move?

Coleman is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, and Everton should do their utmost to retain his services.

While Byram is a very talented young player, he has not played in the English top flight and there will be doubts if he can fill in the shoes of Coleman.

The 21-year-old, though, is a versatile player who can play both as a right-back and as a right-winger.

This means that Everton will get two players for the price of one if they sign Byram from Leeds, but the Merseyside outfit should not expect results from him rightaway.
