Liverpool media round-up: Bacca interest ends as Reds pursue Benteke, Clyne deal imminent

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Monday morning.

Liverpool have ended their pursuit of Sevilla forward Carlos Bacca according to the Liverpool Echo as they continue to target Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke

Officials at Anfield have apparently opted not to make a bid for the Colombian, which would have been around £21 million, and the forward now looks to be close to securing a move to AC Milan.

In terms of Benteke, Liverpool are said to be hopeful of a compromise with Villa as they are not prepared to reach the £32.5 million clause that is reportedly in the Belgian's contract, but he has made it clear he won't be signing a new contract at the club.

The Echo's report does say the Reds are still considering a move for Zenit Saint Petersburg forward Salomon Rondon if a deal for Benteke can not be done.

The Independent reports that Liverpool could offer players to Villa in part exchange in order to try and do a deal for Benteke.

Liverpool are set to announce their sixth signing of the summer today in the form of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton as he is expected to undergo a medical at the club today ahead of a £12.5 million move - according to Sky Sports among other sources.

Clyne is expected to sign a five year deal at Anfield.
