Could Leeds United be about to add another young talent to their blossoming squad?

According to a report from the Daily Star Leeds United are preparing to make a £3million bid for Ternana striker Felipe Avenatti.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan scored 11 goals in Italy’s second tier last season and 13 in all competitions, and given his age and his talent it would be no surprise if Leeds were indeed interested.

Leeds have been linked with a number of strikers this summer but the Star claims the Championship side will move for Avenatti after allegedly missing out on other targets Chris Wood – who they link with Wolverhampton Wanderers – and Clayton Donaldson.

Leeds have already strengthened up front this summer by bringing in Lee Erwin from Scottish side Motherwell, but it is goals that are going to fire the club up the table and potentially back into the Premier League so more new strikers cannot be ruled out at this stage.

That said, £3million seems a lot of money for a club like Leeds to spend on a striker who is just starting out in his career. But if it happens, it could be a risk that pays rich dividends.
