Federico Pastorello claims Tottenham-linked Giannelli Imbula is set for Porto move

Giannelli Imbula is reportedly a target of Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton target Giannelli Imbula is set to join FC Porto, Federico Pastorello has told FCInterNews.

Pastorello is working as an intermediary between Inter Milan and Marseille regarding the transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Imbula has been on the books of French club Marseille since 2013, with Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia reporting of Italian club Inter Milan’s interest in him.

French news outlet RMC Sport has reported that Tottenham want to sign the French youngster, who is also on the radar of Premier League rivals Southampton, according to French publication Le Parisien.

However, it seems that Imbula is on his way to Portuguese giants Porto, with Pastorello telling FCInterNews, as translated by Football Italia: “It’s 99 per cent sure that Imbula will go to Porto.”

Blow for Tottenham Hotspur?

Imbula is a very good and young defensive midfielder and is destined for great things. The fact that so many clubs are (allegedly) interested in him proves that.

Although the Frenchman is young, he would have been a good investment for Spurs, who have signed talented young players from mainland Europe in the past.

The former Guingamp youngster scored two goals and created 34 chances in 37 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season.

Imbula had a pass accuracy of 90% and a shot accuracy of 36%, and won 46 headers, 110 dribbles and 74 tackles.

During the 2013-14 campaign, Imbula scored one goal and created six chances in 26 league matches.

The 22-year-old had a pass accuracy of 89% and a shot accuracy of 25%, and won 13 headers, 43 dribbles and 28 tackles.
