Bookies make QPR favourites to sign Lambert, Villa fourth in running

Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert

The Liverpool striker is in demand, according to bookmakers.

Queens Park Rangers are favourites to sign Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert this summer, according to Sky Bet.

The former Southampton ace thrived in every division from League Two up to the Premier League before securing a move to the club he supported as a child.

Things haven't quite worked out at Liverpool, however, and it has been far from a dream scenario for the 33-year-old.

As such, bookmakers make QPR favourites to prise him away from Anfield this summer at a price of 11/8, with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough closely behind in the running.

Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa side are fourth-favourites, with Chelsea just behind them.

Value?

Lambert is a proven striker at Championship level - shown by his time at Southampton - and could add plenty of value for QPR.

For Aston Villa, the Liverpool man could also be useful. He is a set-piece specialist and a target man - two qualities Sherwood will no doubt be a big fan of.

Lambert, though, is 8/11 with Sky Bet to remain at Anfield ahead of next term. That will be a far from ideal scenario for all involved.
