The Liverpool striker is in demand, according to bookmakers.
The former Southampton ace thrived in every division from League Two up to the Premier League before securing a move to the club he supported as a child.
Things haven't quite worked out at Liverpool, however, and it has been far from a dream scenario for the 33-year-old.
As such, bookmakers make QPR favourites to prise him away from Anfield this summer at a price of 11/8, with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough closely behind in the running.
Lambert is a proven striker at Championship level - shown by his time at Southampton - and could add plenty of value for QPR.
For Aston Villa, the Liverpool man could also be useful. He is a set-piece specialist and a target man - two qualities Sherwood will no doubt be a big fan of.
Lambert, though, is 8/11 with Sky Bet to remain at Anfield ahead of next term. That will be a far from ideal scenario for all involved.
