Aleksandar Mitrovic ‘not ready for’ Chelsea move claims agent, club not an option

Chelsea are reportedly keen on Mitrovic, along with Newcastle United.

Newcastle have been the longest suitors interested in signing Mitrovic, according to the Daily Mail, but it was reported by the same media outlet yesterday that Chelsea also want to sign him.

However, the latest claims by HLN suggest that this interest is nothing but an admiration of the player, with the forward’s agent Pini Zahavi confirming that, whilst Jose Mourinho is a fan of him, there is no move planned.

He said: “Chelsea have not made an offer for Mitrovic. Mourinho likes him, but the player is not ready for Chelsea yet.”

Following on from these claims, the report states that Chelsea is ‘not an option’ for Mitrovic this summer, as he looks certain to leave Anderlecht.

The Serbian international, 20, enjoyed a great season at club level with Anderlecht, netting 27 goals in 50 games across all competitions. He played in the Champions League and Europa League, and proved his impressive poaching ability in front of goal on many occasions.

There are doubts about whether he will adapt to the Premier League, and a move to Chelsea would likely stall his career as he is left to the substitutes bench. Newcastle now look to be the only team willing to make a formal approach for him, and they need to add goals to their team.

Both parties would be getting a good deal if Mitrovic was to secure a move to St James’ Park, and Chelsea not being seriously interested in the forward gives a real boost to the Magpies transfer plans this summer.
