Report: Sunderland boss Advocaat keen on QPR's Leroy Fer

The Dutchman has been linked with a move for the Queens Park Rangers midfielder.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat is 'keen' on bringing QPR midfielder Leroy Fer to the Stadium of Light, according to the Daily Star.

And that makes the Dutchman the second QPR midfielder to be linked with a move to Sunderland recently, with the club said to be in talks with Matt Phillips by the Daily Telegraph.

The Star, meanwhile, suggest Fer would 'jump' at the chance of staying in the Premier League.

As Opta stats show, the Rs man would bring plenty to the Sunderland midfield - on paper, at least.

Indeed, the Dutchman created more chances than any Black Cat bar Sebastian Larsson in the Premier League last term. Fer also fared well in terms of final-third passes, while winning 43 tackles and completing over 800 overall passes.

Where the 25-year-old flourished most for QPR, though, was with his dribbles, beating his man on more occasions than any Sunderland player managed last campaign.

And then, of course, there's the small case of the QPR midfielder being capable of scoring brilliant goals like the one in the below match against Newcastle United...
