Aston Villa are in pole position to sign Groningen winger Tjaronn Chery, report The Sun.
The paper report Villa are in talks to land the 27-year-old, and are close to meeting the Dutch club's asking price.
Chery scored 17 goals last season with 15 coming in the Eredivisie, and provided 12 assists in all competitions.
The Sun report Saudi club Al Ahli are showing an interest but Villa are hopeful over a deal.
Chery can play on either flank but has been most productive in a position behind the striker, and Villa will hope he can link up effectively with star striker Christian Benteke.
In their favour
Positively for Aston Villa, Chery's Groningen contract expires in June 2016, weakening their position at the negotiating table.
Chery ended the season in outstanding form, scoring five goals in his last five games for the Eredivisie side.
Even so, £3.5 million would be a welcome figure for Groningen, who paid just £700,000 to sign him a year ago after a year on loan with the club.
While Villa confounded their critics by reaching the FA Cup Final last season, Groningen went one better in Holland. Chery inspired the side to their first ever trophy by winning the prestigious KNVB Cup last season.
