QPR reportedly head the queue to sign Liverpool's Tiago Ilori on loan

Could Liverpool's young centre-back be on his way to Queens Park Rangers this summer?

According to a report from the Mirror this weekend, Queens Park Rangers are interested in bringing Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori to Loftus Road on loan next season

The Portuguese centre-back has yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds despite signing from Sporting Lisbon back in 2013.

Since then he has spent time on loan at Granada and Bordeaux and it could be tough for him to break into Liverpool’s first-team next season given the presence of Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and summer signing Joe Gomez.

As a result, it is no surprise to see the 22-year-old linked with another loan move and the Mirror claims QPR are heading the queue to sign the player in time for next season.

The report goes on to claim that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers feels the player may be too much of a risk to feature regularly in the Premier League for now and that a spell in the Championship could be the making of him.

QPR relied on an aged defence last season and it played its role in their relegation, so bringing in younger players is surely high on Chris Ramsey’s agenda.

Ilori is a fine option, with great composure and the ability to play wonderful cross-field passes to set up attacks, and if QPR manage to bring him in from Liverpool it could be a wonderful move for all concerned.
