Liverpool transfer news: £15m Illarramendi bid and talks opened regarding Ludwig Augustinsson move

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

According to a report in the Sunday People, Liverpool have tabled an improved offer for Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

The Reds allegedly had an offer of £10.6million rejected earlier this summer but the Sunday People now claims a fresh offer of £15million plus add-ons has been made.

The 25-year-old midfielder has a contract at the Bernabeu until 2019 but he is not a regular starter and given his age he may see this as the perfect time to move on.

With Steven Gerrard moving on himself this summer Liverpool could do with some quality midfielder reinforcements and Illarramendi certainly fits the bill.

In other news, the Mirror reports that Liverpool have opened talks over the prospect of signing Swedish under-21 international right-back Ludwig Augustinsson.

The 21-year-old is currently on the books at FC Copenhagen but it is being suggested he could be heading to Anfield just six months after joining the Danish side.

Liverpool could certainly do with a new right-back considering that Glen Johnson has recently left the club and Javier Manquillo has rarely impressed since arriving in England.
