Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Roberto Firmino's disappointing performance for Brazil

The Reds attacking midfielder was in action at the Copa America on Saturday night.

Liverpool's new signing Roberto Firmino was thrown in at the deep end on Saturday night. And it's safe to say he didn't fare too well.

Indeed, Brazil were knocked out of the Copa America on penalties by Paraguay and the pressure will once again be on boss Dunga. For the quarter-final tie, the Brazil coach started Liverpool's Firmino - but as a false nine.

The result was a disappointing one and many Reds fans were underwhelmed by what they saw of their new signing.

Naturally, plenty blamed Dunga for his tactics and team selection. But some Liverpool supporters also felt there was a lesson to be learned here: that Firmino is no world-class star who can do everything by himself.

He'll need a team on form around him and he'll need to be played in the right position. Unfortunately for the Anfield outfit, the 23-year-old is almost guaranteed to be playing alongside several out-of-form players next term. And he's more-than-likely to be played out of position by Brendan Rodgers.

This may have been a one-off, of course, and not a true reflection of the attacking midfielder's ability. But Liverpool fans still reacted with plenty of disappointment on Twitter...
