Alan Sugar's one-word response when asked about his Tottenham expectations this season

The former Spurs chairman was typically pessimistic.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur chairman Alan Sugar was his usual cheery self when asked whether he had any expectations for the north London club on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

A follower asked Lord Sugar whether he has any expectations ahead of the new season for Spurs - but his one-worded social media response summed up his attitude as a supporter at the moment.

So - will next season be any different for Spurs? It's deja vu every summer as the Tottenham faithful debate whether things can actually change after another disappointing campaign. The only time the north London side hadn't actually suffered disappointment was under Harry Redknapp - but that didn't last too long...

Arguably, things could indeed change this summer as Tottenham secured a relatively good finish late on despite a poor campaign last term, while reaching a cup final.

Young boss Mauricio Pochettino has also now had time at White Hart Lane and could be ready to kick on after his debut season with the club. That, though, is an optimistic outlook. Clearly, Lord Sugar - and many others - don't share it.
