A man linked with a vital role at Leeds United may instead be remaining in Italy.

According to a report from Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, a man recently linked with the sporting director role at Leeds United could instead be set for that same position at Como.

Francesco Marroccu left his role at Cagliari earlier this summer and a report from TMW last month claimed he was set to take over at Leeds.

At the time the report was emphatic in its claims, stating, “Francesco Marroccu is about to become the new sporting director at Leeds United”, and with Nicola Salerno confirming last week that he had officially left his post at Elland Road, the time was perfect for his countryman to make the move.

However, TMW are now reporting that Italian side Como could be about to benefit from Marroccu’s nous and that he could also bring Antonio Imborgia with him to the Serie B club.

Como finished fourth in the Lega Pro table last season and if the news of Marroccu’s imminent arrival at the club is true it is a big boost for them but could come as a disappointment for Leeds owner Massimo Cellino if he did indeed want his countryman to replace Salerno.
