A Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been speaking about his hopes for the future.
The midfielder spent the last year on loan at Swansea City, where he made 18 appearances, including 13 in the Premier League.
At 23, he will surely be hoping to make a regular impact at Tottenham sooner rather than later, having previously turned out for the side 23 times since coming through the youth ranks.
The problem is, another set of talented youngsters are already knocking on Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s door in the form of Dele Alli, Harry Winks and co and it will be interesting to see if Carroll finally gets a regular place in the match-day squad next season.
Fellow midfielder Alex Pritchard looks almost certain to do so following a brilliant spell on loan at Brentford, but Carroll could struggle to make a similar impact. That said he is clearly focused on doing everything that is asked of him.
Speaking to Tottenhamhotspur.com, Carrol said of pre-season, “It is tough but I’m looking forward to it. I’m keen to make an impact in pre-season and go from there.
“I want to try to establish myself more in the Premier League. That’s my aim. Once you get back for pre-season you’ve got to crack on, get your head down and really try to perform well.”
Carroll certainly knows what is required but having been used relatively sparingly at Swansea before injury prematurely ended his season, it remains to be seen if he has a future at Tottenham, where his current deal runs until next summer.
