According to BBC Sport, the Czech Republic international goalkeeper is on the verge of moving from Chelsea to London rivals Arsenal.
It has been reported that the two Premier League clubs have settled on a fee, and that the goalkeeper himself has agreed personal terms with the Gunners.
Arsenal legend Wright has explained why Cech’s switch to the Emirates Stadium would be a good piece of business for Arsenal.
“If we can get the Cech deal over the line then it'll be a genuinely terrific bit of business by Wenger,” the England international wrote on Breathesport.com. “He’ll earn us around 10 or 15 points a season, & that'll make us title challengers.”
Cech is a world-class goalkeeper, and his move to Arsenal is certainly going to enhance the quality of manager Arsene Wenger’s squad.
The former Rennes star was the second choice at Chelsea in the 2014-15 campaign, but that was largely because of the rise of Thibaut Courtois over the past few years.
Wojciech Szczesny is the Gunners’ first choice between the posts at the moment, and David Ospina is his back-up.
Former Rennes star Cech will certainly be an upgrade on them and could make Arsenal genuine Premier League title contenders next season. Despite being 33 years of age, the Chelsea goalkeeper is agile, attentive and alert.
