Hibernian’s Fraser Fyvie says Rob Kiernan spoke to him before joining Rangers

Former Watford defender Rob Kiernan has joined Scottish Championship side Glasgow Rangers from Wigan Athletic.

Hibernian midfielder Fraser Fyvie has revealed to The Scottish Sun that Rob Kiernan spoke to him before joining Rangers.

The 24-year-old defender moved to the Gers earlier this month from English club Wigan Athletic, who are now in League One following their relegation from the Championship at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Kiernan and Fyvie played together at Wigan, and the latter has revealed that the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international asked him about Scottish football before joining Rangers.

“He contacted me before he signed to ask about Scottish football,” Fyvie told The Scottish Sun.

“I told him Rangers was a huge club and the fanbase is sensational. It was probably hard for him to turn down.”

Good signing for Rangers?

Kiernan could prove to be a good signing for Rangers, who will be aiming for automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership next season.

The former Watford defender is good on the ball and strong in the air. The 24-year-old does not lack pace, and he is not afraid to go into tackles either.

Rangers need a player like him at the back in order to impose themselves on the Championship next season.
