Gary Neville’s comments suggest he still has faith in Dejan Lovren

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has his say on Dejan Lovren, who joined Liverpool from Southampton last summer.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has suggested on social networking site Twitter that he still has faith in Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren.

Croatia international centre-back Lovren joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2014.

Much was expected of the 25-year-old in his debut season at Anfield, but he endured a rather forgettable 2014-15 campaign.

Lovren won only 94 out of 130 headers and just 35 out of 80 tackles in 26 Premier League appearances last season.

The former Dinamo Zagreb star created two chances and has a pass accuracy of 85%.

The defender eventually lost his place in the Liverpool starting line-up, but former United star Neville has suggested on Twitter that Lovren will get back to his best.

Lovren showed his quality at Southampton during the 2013-14 season, and he should be given another chance at Liverpool.

However, the former Lyon centre-back will have to prove during pre-season that he is good enough to get back into the Reds’ starting line-up first.
