Former Tottenham captain Gary Mabbutt has told the Daily Record that a move to send Harry Winks to Rangers would be 'ideal'.
The 19-year-old midfielder has come up through the ranks at White Hart Lane, but could now be loaned out in order to continue his development away from North London.
Warburton seemingly has a great relationship with Spurs having nurtured their young playmaker Alex Pritchard at Brentford last season, and could now use that to land another Tottenham youngster.
That's a point that hasn't escaped former Spurs star Mabbutt, who has told the Daily Record that loaning Winks to Rangers this summer could be 'ideal' for the player, considering Warburton's footballing philosophy.
"It would be a fantastic move for Rangers to sign Harry and I absolutely believe it comes down to who you are working with," said Mabbutt. "You want those players brought through in a way which suits Tottenham. Mark showed that last season with Alex Pritchard at Brentford. He brought him along so that shouldn’t pose a problem with Rangers."
"Mark is a really good guy. He likes working with young players and has a great idea on how the game should be played. Pritchard did fantastically well last season with Brentford. Mark did superbly well at Brentford and perhaps was not treated as well as he should have been. But Spurs will be aware of what Mark did with Pritchard last year and having players working with him seems an ideal situation," he added.
Other Spurs targets?
Warburton could utilise his relationship with Tottenham to target other players, and a number of candidates could be possible.
Right back Ryan Fredericks, winger Kenneth McEvoy and forwards Shaq Coulthirst and Emmanuel Sonupe could all be logical targets for Rangers, given the needs in their squad.
Those four players could need experience too next season, and with Spurs seemingly trusting Warburton, they could do worse than send them to Ibrox.
