West Ham United transfer round-up: Two targets lined up to follow Song deal

A selection of the latest news concerning West Ham United.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham have lined up Charlie Austin and Loic Remy as their top transfer targets after they have completed a deal for Alex Song.

Dimitri Payet has officially signed for the club, and it is hoped a deal can be agreed for Song in the coming days.

Following the completion of that deal, Austin and Remy have been lined up to improve the attacking line-up. The £15 million fee for Austin could rule out any deal, and Remy is believed to be more accessible, with only an £8 million asking price on his head.

However, the Hammers will only move for one of the strikes, rather than both of them.

In other news, Mauro Zarate has returned to training with the Hammers, following his 2014/15 loan with QPR. He was not expected to stay at the Boleyn Ground if Sam Allardyce was in charge, but the appointment of head coach Slaven Bilic should give him a second chance.

West Brom are in talks with Demba Ba, according to the Express and Star. The Hammers have been linked with making a move for him, but now it seems as if the Baggies are leading the race for his signature. It is stated that the chance of a deal is progressing well, despite Shanghai Shenhua having a bid accepted for the Senegalese forward.
